Zen Beattie

Studio and Production Assistant

A native Australian, Zen grew up navigating between Sydney and its adjacent shorelines and nature reserves. After moving to New York in 2012, he developed an interest in incorporating a greater sense of nature into the dense urban environment through parklands and architectural interventions. Zen completed his BA at Bennington College in 2021, where his fascination with industrial processes and materials manifested in his studies of architecture and sculpture. His senior work culminated in the transformation of an abandoned campus gardening shed into a reverie. Zen’s personal work often focuses on recycling materials and manipulating site conditions to inspire place identity. Zen is thrilled to be assisting Starr Whitehouse in its mission to develop more livable and green communities.
